Cancer has become the number 1 killer in Canada, surpassing heart disease
Submitted by Admin on Sat, 10/22/2011 - 07:29
An estimated 177,800 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in 2011. Since 2007, cancer has surpassed ardiovascular disease (heart and cerebrovascular) as the leading cause of death in Canada. (To read more: http://www.cancer.ca/canada-wide/about%20cancer/cancer%20statistics/stat...) According to The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, breast cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian women. It is estimated that 23,400 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. Approximately 64 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer every day. When a surgical procedure including a mastectomy or partial mastectomy is required, new challenges are created for women as they deal with recovery. Delicate breast tissue that has been exposed to surgery, chemotherapy and radiation needs to be treated with special care. Often the lymphatic network has been compromised, so any garment contacting the remaining tissue must be chosen with care. The TAB Bra Company is a provider of bras that feature a cotton-lined pocket in each cup which is designed to accept a prosthetic insert. This allows for the ultimate in security and discretion; the bra presents the prosthetic as a regular breast with proper shape and weight, comparable to a natural breast of the same size. The soft cotton pocket touches the remaining scar tissue with a gentle pressure. Additionally, the security of the pockets makes exercise and other rigorous activities much less stressful for the wearer of the prosthesis. For those with larger prosthetics, the triangular guide and support shelf of the bra are utilized to create a secure cradle for the prosthetic. As a custom fitted bra, the TAB is equipped to ensure that the bra fits the prosthetic to your body perfectly. In addition, the TAB bra holds a Medical Device Establishment License with Health Canada under MDEL #3772, which usually helps patients with extended health coverage and a doctor’s prescription to be reimbursed for the cost. The bras are also suitable and comfortable for ladies who have not had tissue removed. The triangular guide design between the cup and the breast directs the breast tissue forward, helping general tissue health and assisting lymphatic drainage. The bra also has been designed to provide support to all existing tissue. Instead of relying on cup compression and straps to lift the tissue from above, the engineered shelf provides support from underneath, which is especially helpful for ladies with larger breasts. This takes the pressure off the shoulder straps, and reduces the compression on the breast tissue. The bra accomplishes all this without the use of underwires or stretch in the cups or shoulder straps. This product is rapidly growing in popularity as a health garment, both for women with special needs as well as regular bra users interested in optimizing their breast health potential.
